Unspecified “difficulties” with the supply chain have knocked progress at the 48MW Kincardine floating offshore wind project off Scotland.
Manufacturing of the project’s Cobra semi-spar concrete foundations was due to have started by now at the Kishorn dry dock in Scotland but has yet to commence.
Pilot Offshore and Spanish company ACS Group said: “Despite the difficulties encountered we are fully committed to the project and remain confident that the project will generate renewable energy to the electricity grid by September 2018.”
A spokesman declined to elaborate. The wind farm must be commissioned by October 2018 to qualify for Scotland’s Renewables Obligation deadline for floating wind.
