Vattenfall today officially opened its 228MW Pen y Cymoedd wind farm in Wales.
The project, which is located in upper Rhondda, consists of 76 Siemens 3MW direct drive machines with 89.5-metre hub heights that have been fully operational since May.
Over 1000 workers from Wales helped build the wind farm and a further 23 jobs will be secured at the wind farm for the next 20 years, Vattenfall said.
The company added that 52% of its £400m (€455m) investment in Pen y Cymoedd went to businesses in Wales.
First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones said: “I am pleased we were able to support this project, which has shown how the local community, the Welsh economy and people right across the country can benefit from such a scheme.”
Vattenfall chief executive Magnus Hall said: “Vattenfall and our contractors have spent £220m in the Welsh economy since construction started in 2014, 52% of the total investment we have made in Pen y Cymoedd.”
