Finns to rock Norwegian wind

Finnish outfit Peikko Group is to supply rock foundation technology to Asko Fornybar’s 9.9MW Tindafjellet wind farm in southern Norway. 

The company’s Norwegian subsidiary Peikko Norge will deliver steel components comprising “fatbar rock anchors”, tower adapter plates, drilling templates and foundation reinforcement for the project’s three foundations.

Peikko is also responsible for foundation design and structural calculations. 

Deliveries start this month, with the wind farm – which will feature three Vestas V117 3.3MW turbines – scheduled to be operational in February next year.

Contractor Risa is responsible for the civil works, while subcontractor Espeland will construct the rock anchor foundations. 

Sweco Norge verified Peikko’s foundation design. 

Peikko Group chief executive Topi Paananen said: “Peikko’s rock foundation solution is always tailored to customer and project needs. 

“We were able to meet the customer’s tight schedules and high quality requirements and thus secure us the project.”
