Eon has chartered Vroon’s VOS Stone vessel to provide logistics support and offshore accommodation at the 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The Eon charter will start from mid-2018, Vroon said.
The vessel (pictured) was delivered to Vroon in July from Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China and will now undergo final outfitting works in the Netherlands before deployment in the North Sea in November.
VOS Stone will be fitted with a motion-compensated offshore gangway and a 50-tonne active-heave-compensated crane.
It will provide accommodation for 60 personnel.
The vessel will also feature a covered warehouse on the main deck and will be able to perform cargo handling, Vroon said.
Its sister ship VOS Start is currently employed at Dong Energy’s 659MW Walney 3 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
