James Fisher Marine Services subsidiary Rotos 360 has completed a blade repair contract for a major turbine manufacturer.
Rotos 360 carried out 27 repairs during the three-month contract, within budget and with no lost time incidents, the company said.
“As the first round of turbines are now coming out of their warranty period, it is anticipated that this contract will be extended to further wind farms and perhaps strategic partnerships created on large turnkey offshore blade repair projects,” James Fisher Marine Services said.
The work utilised an ultra violet blade curing technique called Renuvo UV in combination with Rotos 360 suspended access platforms. It is understood the client was Siemens Gamesa.
Rotos 360 operations director John Galliford said: “Our turnkey solution saw us coordinating the vessel, five platforms – four of which were in use at any one time while the fifth was being moved to the next turbine – day and night teams as well as full follow-up and analysis.”
James Fisher and Sons acquired Rotos 360 for an initial cash consideration of £1.5m in March.
