Vestas has confirmed that it will supply turbines to the 55MW Sainshand wind farm in Mongolia.
The Danish manufacturer will deliver and supervise installation of 25 V110 2.0MW machines optimised to 2.2MW.
Delivery and commissioning of the project, which is located in Dornogobi province, is expected in the first half of 2018, Vestas said.
The deal also includes a 15-year active output management 4000 service contract and VestasOnline business SCADA.
The project is being developed by French utility Engie, Ferrostaal, the Danish Climate Investment Fund and Mongolian entrepreneur Radnaabazar Davaanyam, Vestas said.
Long-term financing for Sainshand is provided by the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, it added.
Vestas Asia Pacific president Clive Turton said: “Mongolia has begun the journey away from an energy mix dominated by thermal power and with its strong wind resources, the market is growing fast and becoming very competitive.
“As Mongolia’s largest wind park, Sainshand is therefore a testament to the strength of our wind energy solutions and our capabilities during the development phase.”
