Scotland’s Wood Group has provided consultancy services to the 1.1GW Sweihan solar PV project in Abu Dhabi, helping it to reach financial close.
Wood Group, in its role as technical adviser, provided a yield assessment and will provide construction monitoring services up until the plant’s completion.
Sweihan is destined to be one of the world’s biggest solar farms when developers JinkoSolar and Marubeni Corporation wrap up construction in April 2019.
They closed an $870m financing agreement on 24 May and commenced construction shortly afterwards.
“It has been a valuable experience to be involved in a landmark project of this enormous scale, especially with parties who are pushing the boundaries of PV plant development to help maximize the technology’s potential,” Wood Group senior renewable energy consultant Thomas Houlding said.
