Zephir will open Europe’s largest wind lidar production facility by the end of the year in Herefordshire, England.
The new Ledbury plant is being developed on the back of “increasing demand” for the company’s products during development, construction and operation of wind farms, said the company.
Capabilities will include production, testing and servicing across electronics and optical assembly clean rooms. Plans were first reported exclusively in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
A remote sensing test site at nearby Pershore will form part of the wider Zephir complex.
The company will increase direct employment and increase supply chain commitments on the back of the expansion.
Zephir released its first commercial wind lidar nearly 15 years ago and said the new facility will set the stage for continued growth.
“The centre will cater for existing Zephir models, future products and creates a step change in manufacturing capacity,” it said. “Our increased production capacity allows us to scale alongside the wind industry.”
