Vestas is introducing a new 4.2MW turbine with three variants with 117, 136 and 150-metre rotors.
The Danish company said the V150-4.0/4.2MW, V136-4.0/4.2MW, and V117-4.0/4.2MW machines offer double-digit growth in annual energy production (AEP) across all wind classes.
Vestas said the V150 has the largest rotor in its class and offers more than 20% AEP in low wind, while also reducing sound levels.
The V136-4.0/4.2MW raises AEP in medium wind conditions and the V117-4.0/4.2MW in strong wind or typhoon type wind conditions, the company said.
Vestas chief technology officer Anders Vedel said: “With today’s announcement, Vestas unfolds even more of the platform’s potential, ensuring that we offer market-leading wind energy solutions.
“Building on state of art technology, the three new variants, 4.0MW nominal rating and option of 4.2MW power optimised mode show Vestas’ ability to efficiently drive down the levelised cost of energy and hereby lead the industry through changing market conditions.”
