A subsidiary of TransAlta Renewables and NB Power have agreed to add 17.25MW of capacity to the 150MW Kent Hills wind project in New Brunswick in Canada.
Kent Hills consists of two separate projects and the additional capacity will be known as Kent Hills 3.
Subject to regulatory approvals and the completion of successful engagement with First Nations and other stakeholders Kent Hills 3 is expected to start operations in late 2018.
The new wind farm will supply additional generation and make up for lower than anticipated energy production at the existing projects, NB Power said.
NB Power will buy the power from the new wind farm.
Kent Hills 1 started commercial operations in December 2008 and Kent Hills 2 in November 2010.
