DNV GL has launched a joint industry project aimed at optimising onshore and offshore wind farms by reducing downtime.
The company will collaborate with operators, manufacturers and insurance companies to find ways of eliminating unplanned and unexplained performance at onshore and offshore wind farms.
“Modern turbines are meeting industry performance assumptions of 97% onshore and 94% offshore but more can be done,” said Kim Moerk, executive vice president of renewables at DNV GL.
DNV GL have identified operational configuration, plant management and on-site validation as key areas where gains can be made.
The company will work with industry partners to produce a recommended best practice document during the project.
