JDR has been selected as the preferred cable supplier by WindPlus for the 25MW Windfloat Atlantic floating offshore wind farm off the northern coast of Portugal.
The scope of the deal – announced as Offshore Wind Europe 2017 kicked off in London – will include the design and manufacture of 66kV array cables for the project off the coast of Viana de Castelo, as well as HV termination and testing.
JDR has also designed a dynamic cable breakaway system to protect the floating platform in the event of a mooring line failure.
JDR chief technology officer James Young said: “We are extremely proud to be selected by WindPlus as the preferred cable supplier for the Windfloat Atlantic project.”
