German police are investigating a crash involving several vehicles and a blade transport lorry on the autobahn near Bielefeld, which has left two drivers injured.
The incident, which occurred early this morning, happened when a lorry driven by a 61-year old man touched the escort vehicle driving behind the blade transport as the latter was exiting the autobahn, local police said.
The lorry tried to evade the escort vehicle, but in doing so hit the tip of the 70-metre blade.
The impact pushed the blade off the transport lorry and across all the lanes of the autobahn in both directions.
A lorry driven by a 46-year old man and a car travelling in the opposite direction then crashed into the blade.
Both the 46 and 61 year old old lorry drivers were injured and taken to local hospitals.
Police are investigating the cause of the initial crash and estimate the amount of damage at some €460,000.
