SeaRoc Group has deployed three SeaHub communication containers for Dong Energy’s 660MW Walney 3 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The containers are onboard a guard vessel (pictured) that is patrolling the offshore construction site, at the project’s construction base in Barrow-in-Furness and at Walney 3’s onshore substation in Heysham.
A communications system has also been deployed onshore to help ensure the 258MW Burbo 2 project remains operational. The system will be combined with Dong’s operational communication system later in 2017, SeaRoc said.
SeaHub provides round-the-clock monitoring and communications and is integrated with SeaRoc’s SeaPlanner marine management system.
SeaRoc Group project manager Neil Pittam said: “The three SeaHub containers deployed for the Walney 3 site follows the initial launch of the unique system on Dong Energy’s Race Bank site earlier this year.
“Additionally we have also installed two crew transfer terminals on board crew transfer vessels at Burbo 2 and Race Bank.
“Twenty-three more crew transfer terminals are planned for deployment to support Dong Energy’s portfolio, 18 of which are for Walney 3.”
