Acciona has received a €100m “green” loan from Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria to help fund its solar PV and wind energy projects in Chile.
The funding type is similar to a green bond, in that it is independently audited to certify that the capital is contributing to sustainability.
Acciona said the long-term loan was one of the first of its kind ever awarded to a Spanish company. It is certified to comply with green bond standards by rating firm Vigeo Eiris.
