Dutch outfit SPT Offshore is to help install suction buckets at Vattenfall’s 92.4MW Aberdeen Bay wind farm off Scotland, having previously designed the hardware.
A deal was awarded by balance of plant contract Boskalis. SPT’s role was first reported exclusively in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
The wind farm will feature 11 suction bucket jackets currently being made by Smulders Projects and to be installed later this year.
SPT Offshore will help with the suction element of installation off northeast Scotland, the company said, with Boskalis taking the lead on the job.
The wind farm will feature 11 MHI Vestas 8.4MW V164 turbines.
SPT has meanwhile been confirmed by Boskalis on a similar installation contract for suction bucket technology that will feature at Dong’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 off Yorkshire.
The latter outfit will install the foundations on part of the wind farm with SPT to be involved during installation.
