The Planning Inspectorate (PINS) has suspended for six months Egnedol’s plans for a 49.9MW biomass project in Pembrokeshire after it deemed the developer’s application to be “inadequate”.
PINS said the Milford Haven scheme’s environmental statement fell short on the effects on several protected species and habitats.
Egnedol was given until 30 September to complete further work is required in relation to Habitats Regulations Assessments.
It is the second time PINS has requested further work on the environmental statement for the project at the former Gulf refinery at Waterston and the RNAD Blackbridge site.
The developer initially submitted an application in July 2016 via the Welsh government’s Developments of National Significance regime.
Egnedol resubmitted the application last November.
The proposed development includes the construction of a 49.9MW facility utilising biomass and waste-derived fuel as feedstock.
The feedstock will be broken down by a pyrolysis process into a syngas to be fed into gas engines to generate electricity for export to the national grid.
