Van Oord has kicked off turbine foundation installation in the Irish Sea at Dong Energy’s 660MW Walney 3 wind farm.
Jack-up vessel Aeolus has laid the first four monopiles off Cumbria after loading out the kit from construction base Belfast Harbour.
It will be joined Van Oord heavylift vessel Svanen later this month once it completes mobilisation in the Dutch port of Rotterdam.
The wind farm will feature a mix of MHI Vestas and Siemens turbines, and is scheduled for commissioning next year.
