The nacelle for Adwen’s 8MW prototype offshore turbine in the German port of Bremerhaven has completed pre-commissioning tests and is set to be installed shortly.
Three tower sections on the AD 8-180 turbine are already in place with the fourth and fifth section to follow as well as the nacelle (pictured) which has wrapped up testing at the Fraunhofer IWES Dynalab.
A trio of 88 metre blades are already on site awaiting installation.
Adwen chief commercial officer David Guiu said the turbine has gone through a “demanding validation” campaign.
“We are convinced that our wind turbine will be a top performer and a key contribution in the race to reduce the levelized cost of offshore wind energy thanks to its reliability and unmatched annual energy production,” he said.
