First Solar has reached financial close on the 48.5MW Manildra solar farm in New South Wales, Australia.
The project will use approximately 466,000 First Solar thin-film photovoltaic modules and single-axis tracking technology.
It is expected to produce more than 120,000 megawatt-hours of electricity in its first year of operation, First Solar said.
Manildra is expected to be complete in 2018 and is supported by a A$9.8m grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
First Solar has agreed a 13-year power purchase agreement with EnergyAustralia for the electricity generated and large-scale generation certificates.
RCR O’Donnell Griffin has been appointed engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project.
Construction is scheduled to start in the first half of 2017.
