Dominion has announced plans build, own and operate two solar projects totalling 81MW in South Carolina.
The 71.4MW Solvay facility will cover almost 900 acres in Jasper county and will enter into service later this year.
South Carolina Gas & Electric (SCG&E) will buy the electricity generated by the project, while chemicals company Solvay will buy all of the associated renewable energy credits (RECs) for 15 years.
SCE&G will also buy the power and RECs from the 10MW Ridgeland plant, which will be built on about 80 acres in Ridgeland and also come online in 2017.
Dominion acquired the two developments from developer Adger Solar in November 2016.
Mortenson will be the engineering, procurement and construction contractor on the projects, which are expected to create about 200 jobs during construction.
