BiFab has contracted Teesside outfit Francis Brown to fabricate 26 steel boat landings for the wind turbines at the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland’s Moray Firth.
The deal will see Francis Brown, which employs about 85 people, expand its business with the help of financing from Barclays Bank.
Seaway Heavy Lifting awarded BiFab a contract last year to build 26 of the jacket foundations for the wind farm.
Francis Brown chief executive Jamie Brown said: “We’re thrilled to have secured this deal which will aid the construction of the Beatrice offshore wind farm.
“We’ve steadily grown the business organically over the generations and now have a highly skilled work force manufacturing for some of the UK’s most prestigious tidal, wind and subsea oil and gas projects.”
Danish fabricator Bladt is tackling a further 30 jackets for the project, while Smulders is manufacturing the remaining 28 foundations that will support a total 84 Siemens 7MW turbines.
