Scottish developer Burcote wind has committed to buying turbine towers from local supplier CS Wind.
The company has signed a memorandum of understanding restating its commitment to sourcing for its proposed 54MW Creggan wind farm on the Kintyre peninsula, should consent by secured.
Burcote has also offered a 5% price advantage to CS Wind. It said it took the steps “in order to increase orders at the plant and safeguard local jobs”.
CS Wind last month told workers that up to 60 jobs could be going at Machrihanish facility due to a wider downturn in the wind sector.
The deal builds on a previous arrangement with CS precursor Wind Towers Scotland.
“We are keen to create and support employment and economic development opportunities wherever possible,” said Burcote.
“We look forward to working closely with CS Wind and hope that our pipeline of potential work, including at our consented Sandy Knowe development, will help to secure a significant number of local jobs at the facility.”
Burcote last year joined forces with ERG Renewables to pursue its four-project portfolio.
