Vestas has finished installing the 365 turbines of the 310MW Lake Turkana wind farm in Kenya.
The manufacturer has erected the last V52 850kW machine near the African lake, it said.
Vestas started installing the wind turbines last March and completed the foundations in October.
Commissioning is scheduled in the second half of the year.
The plant is expected to supply around 15% of Kenya’s electricity capacity, according to Vestas.
“Lake Turkana has been a stern challenge because of all of the extra factors that a project of this size and location includes, and I’m therefore extremely proud that we have installed all 365 turbines in under a year and ahead of schedule,” Vestas project director Pierre Pretorius said.
