Spanish fabricator Navacel has shipped the first turbine towers for Statoil and Masdar’s 30MW Hywind Scotland floating offshore wind demonstrator, which will be located off Peterhead.
The towers are being delivered to Stordbase in Norway, ahead of load out to the project site in Scotland.
Each of the four-section towers will weigh 620 tonnes and will be topped with a Siemens 6MW nacelle.
Navacel’s contract included purchase of steel, manufacturing, surface treatments and installation of tower internals.
