Siem Offshore Contractors has awarded Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke (NSW) the contract to produce and deliver the inner array cables for the 203MW Borkum West 2.2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The contract involves the planning and manufacturing of about 60km of medium voltage submarine power cables, with delivery planned for mid-2018.
NSW, which is a subsidiary of US outfit General Cable Corp, said the wires will connect the wind farm to the existing substation at Borkum West 1.
Siem Offshore Contractors has the turnkey supplier and installation contract for inner-array cables for the project.
Borkum West 2.2 will feature 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines and is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2019.
