France has revealed the first project of the country’s third offshore wind energy tender will be up and running by 2022.
The Dunkirk zone will have a capacity of between 250MW and 750MW, the country’s energy watchdog CRE has stated in documents detailing the so-called competitive dialogue procedure.
The latter will include two stages. Candidates can submit a first dossier outlining financial and technical capacity until next Tuesday.
CRE will then make a pre-selection of bidders that will be allowed to participate in the competitive dialogue pinning down the tender’s exact bidding criteria.
The consultative process will start in April and take between four and six months.
The name of the successful bidder will be announced early next year.
France’s Round 1 and 2 include projects with a total capacity of 3GW. The country’s first offshore wind farms are expected to be up and running by 2021.
