Norwegian company Aibel has been awarded the task of helping Statoil commission the five turbines of the 30MW Hywind 2 floating wind farm in Scotland.
Aibel will join the Statoil team at Stord, Norway, where assembly work will take place before the components are towed to the offshore site.
The job will take about 13,000 hours over six months, the service provider said.
Mobilization will begin in the coming week and start-up at Stord in the following one.
Aibel was responsible for the engineering of the project’s substructures and towers, as well as system engineering and procurement.
It also provided fabrication support for the components at the Spanish yards where they were manufactured.
