Turbine manufacturer Lagerwey has been selected by Russian nuclear giant Rosatom as its technology partner for wind energy.
Lagerwey will help Rosatom achieve its target to develop 610MW of wind capacity in Russia over the next few years, the Dutch company said.
Three companies were shortlisted for the deal out of the 21 that expressed interest.
Lagerwey said this demonstrates the global potential of its direct drive technology and the competitiveness of its 2MW to 5MW turbines.
“We are committed to enable Rosatom and its subsidiaries to realize its ambition to realize 65% localization and construct 610MW of wind capacity in Russia in the coming years,” Lagerwey chief executive Huib Morelisse said.
