EDP Renewables has signed a framework deal with Senvion for the supply of 216MW in Portugal.
Turbines from the German manufacturer’s 2MW MM and 3.4MW and 3.6MW 3.XM platforms will be installed under the deal that will run until end-2019.
A full maintenance agreement is also included for an initial five years with a 20-year extension option also available.
Senvion’s Portuguese facilities will be pressed into action to deliver the components.
Chief executive Jürgen Geissinger said: “We are delighted to sign this contract with EDP Renewables, a major worldwide player in the wind business. Senvion is particularly proud to be selected as their supplier for a major investment and in their home country Portugal.
“For many years, Portugal has been a place of strategic investments for Senvion and our long-term vision is rewarded by this contract.”
