Danish company OSK-Offshore helped Fred Olsen Windcarrier fit out its jack-up Bold Tern for the installation of turbines at the 402MW Veja Mate wind farm in Germany.
OSK-Offshore said it worked on all aspects of the installation project and is behind many of the design solutions on the vessel.
These include sea fastening designs, foundations for the upright transport of towers, blade rack supporting structure, auxiliary lifting equipment and modification of the deck.
The entire mobilisation of the Bold Tern jack-up was completed in three weeks and the first of the wind farm’s 66 turbines was installed earlier this month, two months ahead of schedule.
“These large-scale projects allow us to fully apply our extensive offshore design knowledge when designing custom solutions for the installation vessels,” OSK-Offshore chief commercial officer Anders Ørgård said.
“And in doing so also to push the environmental operational limitations to new standards.”
