An unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey campaign for the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland’s Moray Firth has been completed.
Lead developer SSE said three UXO items had been found in early January during subsea investigations.
“One item of unexploded ordnance was found and relocated. Two items of non-explosive ordnance (test shot) were also discovered one was returned ashore for disposal and one was handed over to the Royal Navy and Coastguard for use in a disposal exercise,” said SSE.
UK outfit 6 Alpha Associates is managing UXO risks at the project.
The Beatrice wind farm will feature 84 Siemens 7MW turbines to be installed in 2018.
It is being developed by SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and SDIC Power of China (25%).
