Acciona Energía is supplying electricity to Google’s installations in Chile from its 246MW El Romero solar photovoltaic plant.
Google has signed a long-term supply contract for up to 80MW a year from the project until 2030, with an option for a five-year extension.
Electricity powers the Google’s data centre in Quilicura, Acciona said.
Google corporate communications manager for Latin America Florencia Bianco said: “In 2017, Google will achieve the objective of supplying its global operations with 100% renewable energy. El Romero is a very important element in achieving this objective.”
