German municipal utility Stadtwerke Bochum has agreed to acquire a 10% stake in the 203MW Borkum 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
EWE and Trianel will each maintain a 37.5% share in the project and are in talks with other investors for the remaining 15%.
A final investment decision for the project is slated for the first half of this year.
Offshore construction could start in early 2018 at the project site 45km off the coast of Borkum.
The project will feature 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines and is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2019.
Seaway Heavy Lifting has been awarded an EPCI contract for the project’s monopiles and transition pieces, while Siem Offshore Contractors will supply and install the inter-array grid cable system.
Stadtwerke Bochum has an 18.5% stake in the 200MW Borkum I offshore wind farm, which has been online since September 2015.
