UK energy consultancy TNEI has joined forces with technology company Visualwind to develop a noise monitoring system for wind farms.
The self-powered WindComply noise module transfers noise, rain and battery health data from a wind farm to the WindSync supervision platform for analysis.
This reduces the need for site visits during a monitoring campaign and continues to provide data during turbine shutdowns, the partners said.
“There is an ever-increasing requirement to undertake noise compliance monitoring at wind energy generation sites to satisfy planning conditions, or in response to complaints from wind farm neighbours,” they added.
