UK energy consultancy TNEI provided technical grid and environmental due diligence for CGN Europe Energy on its acquisition of Irish wind farms from Gaelectric.
TNEI partnered with wind consultants K2 Management on the deal, which involved 14 wind projects with a combined 230MW in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Both companies ensured that the buyer was able to successfully value and acquire the portfolio, TNEI said.
It provided specialist advice on complex issues such as constraints and curtailment on the Irish system, grid codes and noise issues, as well as environmental and consenting issues.
Gaelectric confirmed the sale to the renewables arm of China General Nuclear Power Group in December.
“We have more than a decade of wind energy experience in Ireland, allowing us to work really effectively with K2 Management to support CGNEE on this transaction,” TNEI managing director Rachel Hodges said.
K2 Management director of global due diligence Simon Luby added: “Understanding grid constraints is one of the single biggest challenges in the valuation of wind assets in Ireland, so having TNEI as a partner was crucial”.
