French officials have extended the country’s Round 3 offshore wind tender to an area off the island of Oleron on the country’s Atlantic coast.
Environment Minister Segolene Royal took the wraps off the plans earlier today. German developer WPD has long lobbied for a project in the area.
No details of size were given for the wind farm.
Officials said the project off Oleron “will benefit from the innovations introduced” in France, including a new tender process based on the Danish model of “competitive dialogue”.
The only other zone in Round 3 was off Dunkirk, where an around 500MW project has been planned.
