Mainstream Renewable Energy’s joint venture Lekela Power has erected 30 of the 61 Siemens turbines at the 140MW Loeriesfontein wind farm in South Africa.
Siemens Wind Power and sub-contractors Fairwind and BMS are responsible for the installation, which is averaging two-and-a-half turbine liftings per week.
The turbines are 100 metres tall and have 53-metre long rotor blades.
The next construction milestone will be the arrival of the main transformer and the energisation of the substation.
Lekela Power is a 60:40 JV between Mainstream and Actis.
