Senvion has been selected as preferred supplier to deliver turbines with more than 300MW of capacity to two wind farms in Australia.
The agreement with developer Nexif Energy involves the installation and maintenance of 3.6M140 machines at the 25-turbine Glen Innes project in New South Wales and the 59-turbine Lincoln Gap facility in South Australia.
It is the first deal in Australia for Senvion’s new turbine model, which was unveiled in September.
The preferred supplier agreement represents an important milestone in the progress towards final investment decisions, which are expected to be made in 2017, Senvion said.
The German manufacturer has delivered 216 turbines with a total 440MW in the country to date.
“We are delighted to be working with Nexif Energy to introduce the 3.6M140 to the Australian market,” Senvion chief executive Jürgen Geissinger said.
“With this announcement, we prove that we are well positioned to expand our activities in Australia and that this new upgraded variant to our product portfolio ensures we can offer our customers optimized solutions for a wide range of wind regimes.”
