Canadian developer Boralex has acquired a 25% stake in the now operational 230MW Niagara Region wind farm in Ontario, following exercise of an option.
Turbine supplier Enercon is the majority owner. Financial terms were not disclosed and the deal is expected to close by 31 December.
The 77-turbine scheme started commercial operation 30 October, Enercon spokesperson Eva-Lotta Schmidt told reNEWS.
Under the partnership agreement, Boralex is operating the wind farm and Enercon is providing maintenance services, said Schmidt.
Canadian contractor Borea Construction installed a mix of 3MW and 2.9MW E101 machines. Enercon established a temporary concrete tower plant near the project.
Ontario company Eptcon built two project substations and a 44km 115kV transmission line for the project, which spans a 335-hectare site that stretches from Lake Ontario south to Lake Erie.
Total cost of the wind farm is pegged at C$900m to C$950m.
The Niagara scheme has a 20-year feed-in tariff power purchase agreement with the provincial Independent Electricity System Operator.
