John Laing has invested $20.5m in a wind farm in New Mexico, its first renewable energy investment in the US.
The UK company said it is investing in the 29.9MW Sterling wind farm in Lea County in partnership with French developer Akuo Energy.
The project will receive a construction loan from BayernLB, which will bridge an equity contribution from GE Energy Financial Services.
Sterling will comprise 13 GE 2.3-116 turbines with hub heights of 80 metres.
It is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of next year.
