BEIS Secretary Greg Clark has granted consent for the grid connection to Innogy Renewables UK’s 57.4MW Brechfa Forest West wind farm in Carmarthenshire.
The approval of Western Power Distribution’s application for the 132kV Brechfa Forest Electricity Connection will signal the immediate construction of the Renewables Obligation project in an effort to meet a 31 March 2018 deadline.
The link will connect the consented wind farm to an existing overhead tower line near Llandyfaelog.
Brechfa Forest West will feature 28 Senvion MM92 turbines with 145-metre tips.
Each turbine is rated at 2.05MW.
Project developer Bethan Edwards said: “We are delighted with this news. Construction of Brechfa Forest West Wind Farm could support a significant investment and unlock community investments for the local area.”
