Irish renewables developer Gaelectric has named Barry Gavin as its new chief executive, effective from 1 October.
Gavin (pictured) is currently the company’s chief operating officer and was previously chief financial officer.
He replaces Brendan McGrath, who will continue to have involvement with Gaelectric in a “number of special project areas”, the company said.
Gaelectric Holdings board chairman Ciaran O’Brien said: “Barry has been central to the development of Gaelectric’s businesses from its early beginnings as a wind farm developer through the growth and rollout of its wind portfolio, and in establishing strong positions in related renewable energy businesses including energy storage, bioenergy, solar, and energy trading and markets services.
“Barry will lead a strong team of engineering, finance and technical professionals in Gaelectric’s Dublin, Belfast, Manchester and Chicago offices.”
Gavin said: “It will be a privilege to lead Gaelectric as we embark on the next phase of our development as a renewable energy solutions provider, developer and operator of generating assets.”
