Apex Clean Energy Holdings has kicked off state permitting for a 200.1MW wind project in western New York State.
The US developer has filed a public involvement program (PIP) plan for the Heritage project to the state Siting Board. The PIP must be submitted at least 150 days before Apex can file a preliminary scoping statement.
Early desktop studies show the Heritage wind farm could comprise about 70 turbines, according to Apex.
The project’s interconnection request has been submitted for the existing National Grid Shelby-Sweden 115kv transmission line.
The area under consideration is on private land in the Town of Barre in Orleans County, next to existing transmission lines.
Virginia-based Apex expects to enter a payment in lieu of taxes (Pilot) agreement with the local tax jurisdictions and a host community agreement with the town.
These payments are projected to total more than $1.6m a year.
