Siem Offshore has completed installation of array cables at RWE and Northland Power’s 332MW Nordsee 1 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, three weeks ahead of schedule.
The Siem Aimery and Siem Moxie vessels carried out the job, which included laying of ten JDR-made 33kV wires some 70km in length.
The cables have a diameter of up to 160mm and weigh up to 36 kilograms per metre.
In the coming weeks the transmission system operator will bury export cables, Nordsee 1 executive Pierre Lestienne said.
“We are then set to commission electrical systems and are preparing the installation of turbines that is scheduled for early 2017, weather permitting,” he said.
