Iberdrola has confirmed that it has won support to develop two wind farms with a combined 32.2MW in Spain’s Canary Islands.
The company and a local partner will build the 13.8MW Las Aulagas and the 18.4MW Chimiche II wind farms in Tenerife, Iberdrola said.
Both projects have been authorized under the island´s wind power quota scheme, which has allocated fixed subsidies to 450MW of projects, and now have all the relevant planning permits.
They will represent an investment of about €40m and are expected to be completed in about 21 months, the Spanish company said.
The wind farms will be Iberdrola´s first in Spain since the opening of a 36MW facility in December 2012, just as the government halted subsidies for new projects.
