All the renewable energy projects awarded Contracts for Difference (CfD) that are under Low Carbon Contracts Company management have passed their milestone delivery requirements.
The milestone has to be achieved within 12 months of entering into the CfD contract and could be achieved via two possible routes.
These are the project commitment route – demonstrating contracts are in place to buy all material equipment for the generation and export of electricity – or spending 10% of the expected development and construction costs.
The LCCC, which has been set up to act as counterparty for the contracts, is currently managing 39 CfDs and Investment Contracts with over 6GW of capacity.
Mainstream’s 448MW Neart na Gaoithe offhore wind farm is not included in the total as its CfD was withdrawn by LCCC in March.
The remaining projects cover a range of different technologies including offshore and onshore wind, biomass conversion, biomass with CHP, solar photovoltaic, energy from waste and advanced conversion technology.
