Holding OOS International Group has signed a contract with China Merchant Industry Holdings to build two semi-submersible crane vessels (SSCV) for work in the offshore wind and oil and gas industries.
The two vessels, named OOS Serooskerke and OOS Walcheren, will be equipped with two heavy lift cranes giving a total dual lifting capacity of 4400 tonnes per vessel.
The cranes will be provided by Huisman Equipment.
The engineering and construction phase is estimated to be complete in the second quarter of 2019 for OOS Serooskerke and the third quarter for OOS Walcheren.
The vessels will also include hotel capabilities for 750 people in mainly single and twin cabins and have a transit speed of 12 knots.
Holding OOS International said the SSCV’s will be equipped with a enhanced dynamic positioning class 3 system from Kongsberg.
Kongsberg will also provide system switchboards, frequency converters, automation, navigation & DP systems, radio and satellite communications, networking and on board entertainment, safety technology and monitoring components such as the advanced helideck system.
