LM Wind Power has broken ground on a new blade manufacturing facility at Bergama in Turkey.
The factory, which will be on a 17-hectare site in the Bergama Organized Industrial Zone, is expected to be up and running by mid-2017.
It will have capacity of 500MW a year, with options to expand to 2GW, LM Wind said.
The Bergama plant is expected to create up to 450 jobs, across manufacturing operations, technical engineering, services, administration and ancillary support.
The company added that the development is supported by “firm contractual commitments from a major customer”.
The new plant will be LM Wind Power’s 14th blade manufacturing facility worldwide.
