Solar developer Sungrow and Samsung have kicked off work on a $170m energy storage joint venture with two contracts for 10MWh and 8MWh respectively.
The Sungrow-Samsung SDI Energy Storage Power Supply Company will provide complete energy storage solutions using lithium batteries, power conversion systems and energy management systems with a capacity of up to 2GWh a year.
Sungrow president Renxian Cao said: “The energy storage market is expected to be a key area where Sungrow is to expand its business based on close cooperation with Samsung.
“Sungrow has always been committed to technical innovation, and we have strong faith in our ability to build benchmarks in the global energy storage market.”
